SAP S/4 HANA (Business Suite for High-Performance Analytic Appliance) is a business suite offering that is built on an in-memory computing platform called SAP HANA. Previously, SAP Products are designed to run on any platform including those from Oracle, Microsoft and IBM. However, SAP S/4 HANA only runs on SAP HANA database. The offering is meant to cover all mission-critical processes of an enterprise. It integrates functions from all lines of businesses as well as industry solutions and also re-integrates portions of SAP Business suite products such as SAP SRM, CRM and SCM.

Testing SAP S/4 HANA is challenging. It has two types of offerings

  • SAP S/4 HANA On-Premise Solution
  • SAP S/4 HANA On-Cloud Solution (Public and Private)

As per SAP, there are three main types of Migrations to SAP S/4 HANA

  • A new Customer to SAP S/4 HANA
  • Customer having Business Suite on any DB to SAP S/4 HANA
  • Customer having Business Suite powered by HANA to SAP S/4 HANA
